Sir Trevor kicks-off new £2.4m site

Sir Trevor kicks-off new £2.4m site

Logistique led project gets fitting opening

Local people in the Dronfield area were this week celebrating as The FA’s Director of Football Development Sir Trevor Brooking was present for the opening of a new £2.4m facility at Gosforth Fields. The project was co-ordinated by Logistique and involved four different funding bodies including the Football Foundation, Sport England, The RFU and WREN.

Sir Trevor was joined at the opening by President of the Rugby Football Union, John Owen to conduct the ceremony for the new state-of-the-art facility which will enable Dronfield Town FC and AFC Dronfield to provide excellent playing and coaching facilities for the 600 local boys, girls and adults registered with the clubs. The facility will be managed by the Gosforth Fields Sports Association, an umbrella association made up of the two football clubs and Dronfield Rugby Club.

One of four funding bodies the Football Foundation awarded a grant of £996,659, with further awards of £250,000 by Sport England, £50,000 via the RFU and £19,370 from WREN back in 2008 contributed to the overall funding package.

The site was previously unable to meet the sports provision needs of the local community. It had eleven grass pitches with no permanent outdoor changing provision. In addition the fields had historically suffered from chronic drainage problems.

The site now boasts a new changing pavilion and a full-size floodlit 3G artificial grass pitch. Improvements have been made to the drainage of pitches, perimeter fencing and car parking. The new facility will therefore enable the association to continue its growth and development in style.

John Morris, Chairman at Gosforth Fields, said: “This new facility gives us a solid platform to support the 600 current players and strong foundations to develop football even further in the local community.”

Stephen Brown said “Everyone at Gosforth Fields Sports Association deserves a huge pat on the back for bringing this scheme to fruition. All of the partners have worked tirelessly and now the many junior and youth teams will reap the rewards with first class sporting facilities”.

“Logistique along with Club design have played a significant role in helping to manage the project and ultimately secure the funding required”.

Logistique to support British Table Tennis Association for people with Disabilities (BTTAD)

Logistique to support British Table Tennis Association for people with Disabilities (BTTAD)

Logistique retained by UK Sport

Logistique have been commissioned by UK Sport on behalf of British Table Tennis Association for people with Disabilities (BTTAD) who are in the early stages of progressing a bid to host a disability table tennis major event in the UK. This event needs to provide an opportunity for Britain’s best athletes to compete on home soil to best advantage their competition objectives at the London 2012 Olympic Games. This event will be a Factor 40 Open Disability Table Tennis Event to be staged in September 2011.

It is anticipated the event should take place in EIS Sheffield as the home of BTTAD elite performance athletes. BTTAD are seeking external support to assist in selecting the appropriate event and developing an application to UK Sport for funding support. Logistique will initially produce an options appraisal on the venue and event with a further business plan and application being developed and submitted to the UK Sport Major Sports events panel.

Jon Dutton said “We are pleased that UK Sport have selected us to assist BTTAD with this piece of work”.

“Whilst still at a very early stage this once again demonstrates partner’s aspirations to bring major events the UK ahead of the Paralympics in 2012”.
